How it works:

The Preparation Phase
lays the foundation for your success

I’ll get to know you through a series of conversations.  We’ll start with the big picture, talking about your decluttering challenge, your motivation for addressing it now, and what you hope to achieve.  I’ll find out who you are – what’s truly important to you, what your strengths are and what you find challenging.  We’ll explore your vision for your life and your space.

We’ll talk in detail about your space – how do you use it, how do you wish you could use it, and what’s getting in the way.  What are the categories of things you’ll be sorting through?

Decluttering can bring up a lot of emotion.  We’ll discover what you are attached to and why and how to preserve what’s important to you and respectfully remove what is no longer needed.

We will clearly define the scope of what you want to accomplish to get ready for the Planning Phase.

There is no one size fits all!  Your success depends upon a plan that considers who you are, not just your stuff.  We’ll cover these topics:

  • How much time do you want to devote to decluttering on a daily/weekly/monthly basis?
  • How can this be broken down into manageable, rewarding decluttering sessions?
  • What’s your decluttering style?
  • Where, when and how will you declutter?
  • How will you set the stage for successful decluttering?
  • How can we make this easy and maybe even fun?
  • How will you reward yourself for your successes?
  • Do you need any supplies such as containers, markers, trash bags, boxes?
  • How can we responsibly dispose of items you no longer need?

Now I’ll create your First Step Plan.

It took time to get here, and it will take time to change things.

Success builds upon success.  I’ll create your First Step Plan based on everything I’ve learned about you, your decluttering goals, and your vision for your space and your life.  Your First Step Plan supports your goals, is attainable and will give you a sense of accomplishment and momentum for continuing with your decluttering project.  This is completely customized for you, at a pace that’s comfortable for you.  Instead of feeling overwhelmed, you know exactly what to do and how to do it.

As you declutter, we’ll have biweekly check-in calls and I’m also available for email support.  You can share your successes, ask questions, talk through challenges, and build on your plan.  I provide accountability that will keep you on track.  Success builds on success!
